A gym instructor was injured and had to have two weeks off work after she was attacked by her partner, a court was told.

Pennine magistrates heard how Stacey Hebden suffered a cut to her forehead and bruises after baker Jonathan Christopher Stanworth (25) pushed her, she fell and he then threw a mobile telephone which hit her.

Mother-of-one Miss Hebden found out a week after the violence that she was pregnant again. She was also left with sore ribs and had to take painkillers following the incident.

Stanworth, of Ivan Street, Burnley, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm at Burnley, last October 9th. He was sentenced to 26 weeks in jail, suspended for 18 months, with 200 hours unpaid work. The defendant was ordered to pay £300 costs. He had no previous convictions for violence.
