A HEROIN user who needed money for food stole items of clothing from Burnley’s Sainsburys store.

Amanda Kerr (32) pleaded guilty to stealing a ladies’ top and two pairs of trousers worth £68 from the store on February 20th.

Mr Richard Taylor (defending) at Burnley Magistrates’ Court said: “Amanda Kerr is not an unintelligent person. However, her life was blighted many years ago when she was introduced to heroin.

“She was sent to custody last October because she had nowhere to live. In February she applied for a crisis loan which was denied and she fell into a complete panic over her situation again.

“She intended to sell the clothes to buy food.”

Magistrates gave her a conditional discharge for 18 months.
