BURGLARS stole £1,500 worth of property from a new Burnley apartment.

The new-build in Birchfield Mews was raided after criminals smashed a window and climbed inside on Monday.

The thieves made off with an X-Box games console, a 40in. Sony TV, two laptops and various jewellery.

Jewellery worth almost £1,000 was stolen from a Burnley house last night.

Raiders broke into the Hinton Street property through a window after midnight.

An engagement ring with a pale blue sapphire, a nine carat gold sovereign ring and two gold bracelets were taken.

A Samsung mobile and cigarettes were also stolen in the raid which totalled £945.

A black cab was broken into in a Burnley street in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The thieves smashed the window of the taxi in Barden Lane and made of with £2 in loose change.
