BURNLEY woman Anna Cooper – the daughter of Burnley Labour Group leader Coun. Julie Cooper – has been called to the bar at the Inner Temple, London.

Miss Cooper, who lives in Briercliffe, has studied for five years to become a barrister.

The 23-year-old former pupil of Briercliffe County Primary School and Habergham High School gained an honours degree at Nottingham University in 2009, and has spent the last two years at law school in Leeds.

Coun. Cooper and her husband, pharmacist Brian Cooper, said they were both “extremely proud” of their daughter.

She added: “It is really good to see young people from Burnley are getting on.”

Miss Cooper now intends to pursue a career specialising in human rights law.
