Detectives are investigating an armed robbery at a shop in Burnley in which a security guard fought off one of the attackers.
At around 10-30am this morning (Wednesday) two men wearing balaclavas ran into the LONDIS store on Rosegrove Lane as a security guard was delivering money.
One of the pair was armed with a crowbar while the second offender was carrying a hammer.
They threatened and attacked the security guard, who managed to disarm the man with the crowbar.
The two men ran off from the shop without any cash into a waiting blue Peugeot car which was driven by a third offender.
The car was later found abandoned just off Clifton Street. The offenders ran off into a wooded area nearby.
A short time later, three men were located and arrested.
The trio, aged 20, 25 and 26 from Manchester, are currently in police custody on suspicion of robbery and theft of a motor vehicle. The 26 year old is also being held on suspicion of a drugs possession offence.
