Armed robbery at a Burnley bookies

POLICE are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a Burnley bookmakers last night.

The robbery took place at William Hill in Padiham Road at around 7-55pm when a man entered the premises, approached the counter and threatened two staff members with a weapon concealed up his sleeve.

The man demanded money and was handed an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing from the scene.

The offender is described as a white, 6ft tall, heavy build with blue eyes, blotchy skin and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a black hooded jacket with the hood worn up, a black scarf around his face and black tracksuit bottoms.
