Crews tackle Burnley roof blaze

Firefighters are investigating this morning after fire ripped through the roof of a terraced house in the early hours.

Crews were called to the mid-terraced property in Wilton Street, off Briercliffe Road, at 2-25am after members of the public spotted smoke billowing from the roof.

When firefighters arrived flames were shooting out of the building and the blaze spread to the roof of a neighbouring house. Two crews from Burnley, one from Nelson and a crew from Hyndburn with the aerial ladder platform attended the scene where they spent hours tackling the fire.

One crew is still at the house carrying out investigation work.

Luckily no one was inside at the time of the fire.
