Court: dad accused of shaking baby

The 27-year-old admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm, at Burnley Crown Court. He cannot be named for legal reasons.

The defendant was bailed for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and the hearing was told his solicitors also intended to seek a psychiatric report.

The father had his case adjourned until September 16th. Judge Graham Knowles, QC, said: “This is an extremely serious case.”

The judge told the defendant: “The likelihood for such a grave offence is a prison sentence and the fact I am allowing you bail and ordering the report is not any indication of anything other than that.”
