Concert tribute to ex Mayor and teacher

This week’s Lunchtime Concert at Knowle Green Village Hall is another very special event, being given in tribute to local hero John Travis MBE.

Mr Travis, a former Mayor of Ribble Valley as well as a renowned promoter of young musical talent in the area, organised the popular lunchtime concerts for many years.

Prior to his death in October last year, he handed over the organisation to local violinist Gaynor Sutcliffe, who will perform in this week’s tribute concert together with Tim Jackson on French Horn and Ian Buckle on piano.

Together they will perform the Brahms Horn Trio no II (Op 40) as part of a hour-long concert beginning at noon on Thursday, March 13th, at the village hall.

A two-course lunch will be served afterwards (vegetarian meal on request) and cakes and warm welcomes on arrival. John was an inspiration to so many and held these three musicians in very high regard, both as close friends and performers.

To book a place call 01200 425629 or 07814782144. The cost is just £15 with lunch or £10 for the concert only.
