Colne’s Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival ‘best yet’

Colne’s 24th annual Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival has been hailed as the best yet with record numbers of people flooding to the town for the four day spectacular as balmy weather blessed the Bank Holiday weekend.

The International Stage was completely sold out for Sunday and Monday and the festival roadhouses dotted across Colne were equally packed to the rafters with music lovers across the weekend.

Big name stars performing included Ian Siegal, Dr Feelgood, Bill Wyman, Lil Jimmy Reed, Chris Farlowe and many, many more.

Much loved Wilko Johnson performed what is likely to be his last ever gig on Monday and received a five minute standing ovation from the emotionally charged crowd who chanted “Wil-ko” repeatedly at the end of the icon’s set.
