Colne’s gold post box for London 2012 Olympics hero Steven Burke
COLNE’S Olympic Gold Medallist - Steven Burke - has been honoured in his home town by the Post Office. They have made one of their key postboxes in Albert Road a highly visible gold version to mark his achievement.
Cyclist Steven (24) was one of the GB team which created a new world record as well as winning the Gold Medal in the team pursuit event on Friday.
He has also been given the Freedom of Pendle by the borough council to celebrate his success. He won a bronze medal in the last Olympics. He attended Park High School and Nelson and Colne College. His team-mates this year were Ed Clancy, Pete Kennaugh and Geraint Thomas.
