The victim has not yet been identified by police.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by detectives.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Neil Hunter said: “At this stage, we are at the very early stages of an inquiry. We have a team of detectives working to establish how this woman died. Should anyone have been in the area last night, specifically in or around Centaur Court, and who may have witnessed something or have information that can assist the enquiry, then I would ask them to contact us.”

Residents living in the area said they were shocked and saddened to hear of the woman’s death, especially happening so close to Christmas, but said they had not seen or heard anything during the night.

A spokesman for SLC Group, which owns the Centaur Court development, which provides supported living accomodation for those with learning disabilities or mental health needs, said they had nothing further to add at this time.
