Colin Firth films ‘The King’s Speech’ at Queen Street Mill

STAFF at Queen Street Mill Textile Museum in Burnley will be among the first in the queue to see the new film “The King’s Speech”, which opens at cinemas today.

Three well known faces from the mill appear in the film alongside the stars Colin Firth, as George V1, Helena Bonham Carter and Geoffrey Rush.

Some critics are already saying the film is a contender for best film of the year, but when friends from the mill take their seats they will be looking out for weaving supervisor Conrad Varley and technician Margaret Nowak who play extras in the weaving shed, and boilerman Perry Hinton.

The mill is the backdrop for a stuttering speech made by George V1 that revealed his speech impediment to the nation in a live broadcast.

Mr Hinton was filmed in the boilerhouse, listening to the radio.
