Around 20 volunteers were invited down to Coal Clough Community Library last month to celebrate VE Day.
Those that attended the event were entertained by a quiz all about the year 1945, memory boxes from the 1940s which contained memorabilia from that era, and the music of best-selling 1940s musician Glenn Miller.
Staff also served refreshments at the end of the afternoon whichi included cake, tea, and buscuits.
Sandra McGowan, Home Library Service Manager, said: “Everyone had a wonderful time.
“We also asked the guests where they were on VE Day and found that some of them were actually serving in the forces.
“It was also wonderful to see that as the day went on all the guests got chatting and began reminiscing about VE Day and the past which meant we were fortunate enough to hear some fantastic stories.”
