St James’s Church, at the top ofSt James Street, off Whalley Road, is taking part and inviting any couples, whether they have been married one year or 51, to go along to the church at 5 pm on February 8th where, in a very short and simple service, they will collectively renew The Big Promise they made to each other.

“You can come as a couple or with your family,” said Rev. Mark Pickett, Rector of St James.

“You can dress up or come as you are. You can bring your best man or bridesmaids. You can register your interest by visiting our website (see below) or simply turn up on the day.

Rev. Pickett added: “We hope that this will be a bit of fun, but also much more than that. Every year a quarter of a million people express their commitment to each other by getting married and we want to celebrate that commitment.”
