Clarets inspire children to become top of the class
Ten primary schools from Burnley and Pendle were invited to Turf Moor for a literacy programme specifically designed to improve the writing of thousands of children.
Burnley FC in the Community played host to children aged nine to 11 for the special Literacy Through Sport writing workshop organised by teachers from www.pobble.com.

Pobble co-founder, teacher and football coach Simon Blower said: “Football has the ability to inspire like almost nothing else, and it has been great for Pobble to work alongside Burnley FC in the Community to improve children’s writing.
“From the first pieces of work that were shared by a class, to the new stories being added every few minutes from around the world, the impact on children and teachers is the same.
“For children, they are getting that awesome piece of work they’ve just carefully written published and shared with the world, which could not be more exciting. And for teachers, we’re building a global library of ideas, content and resource.”

“As a former teacher I know that I would have found the resources and the website a tremendous asset in the classroom and would have embraced the exciting possibilities which the scheme offers children, to share and showcase their work to a worldwide audience.
“I have no doubt that the children of Burnley who took part will be motivated and inspired by this programme and the testimonies on your website from such acclaimed children’s authors is an endorsement of this.”
