Child airlifted to hospital after road accident

A nine-year-old boy was airlifted to the Royal Preston Hospital after he was in collision with a car in Burnley this afternoon. (Sunday, March 13th).

The boy suffered a head injury after he collided with a Ford Focus in Lowerhouse Lane, Rosegrove, at around 3-15pm. The car had swerved to avoid another vehicle when the accident happened.

A police spokesman said: “The child’s injuries are not believed to be significant at this stage but he was airlifted to hospital as he suffered a head injury.

“He was conscious at the scene of the accident and able to speak to people.’’

The driver of the vehicle was shaken but not injured. Inquiries into the accident are continuing and any witnesses are asked to contact the police by ringing 101.
