The affected services are:

• Service 16: Nelson-Barrowford-Colne-Lenches-Bunkers Hill. All journeys will be withdrawn. The county council is in discussion with Pendle Council regarding the possibility of using Developer funding to maintain a service on this route.

• Service 68: Nelson-Barrowford-Colne. All journeys will be withdrawn. The county council is in discussion with Pendle Council regarding the possibility of using Developer funding to maintain a service on this route.

• Service 97: Nelson-Valley Mills-Nelson. All journeys will be withdrawn.

• Service 98: Nelson-Marsden Heights-Nelson. All journeys will be withdrawn.

County Coun. Malcolm Barron, lead member for buses, said: “I know these buses are valued by those that use them but like all councils we are facing a very difficult budget with far less money to spend in future and we can only afford to keep funding those which provide reasonable value for money.

“Lancashire will continue to be well served by public transport. We simply can’t justify such high levels of subsidy to buses which are not well used at a time when we are making very difficult decisions in other areas.”
