Cars wrecked as vandals hit Nelson garage

Vandals who ran riot at a Nelson garage on Tuesday caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Police are investigating the incident which saw up to eight vehicles damaged.

On Tuesday evening the criminals entered Southfield Garage’s outside parking area on Southfield Street and caused the damage to seven cars and a lorry, too.

Vehicle windows were smashed and there was also damage to wiring and the inside of some of the vehicles which were wrecked.

Most of the cars were being repaired by Southfield Garage for their customers.

Garage owner Mr Derek Gallagher said: “I was really horrified by it. There was a lot of damage created. I’m glad the police are investigating this.”
