Canal plunge: man confirmed dead

A man pulled from the Leeds Liverpool Canal in Burnley today (Friday) has died in hospital.

Police confirmed the man, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead at 1-40pm.



Paramedics treated the man at the scene near to the Queen Victoria pub in Belvedere Road following an emergency call at 12-15pm, but sadly could not save him.

The police also revealed that the man had been walking his dog, which has now been taken in by the borough dog warden.

Investigations are continuing into the cause of the incident.
