Canal death dog-walker had a heart attack

A Burnley man who died after falling into the Leeds Liverpool Canal while walking his dog suffered from a heart condition.

Mr Thomas Mayock (64) of Talbot Street, was found half submerged in the canal, near to the Queen Victoria pub in Burnley, on January 17th.

Two joggers helped to pull Mr Mayock out of the water and he was rushed to Royal Blackburn Hospital, where he was prounced dead.

Police launched an investigation, but found no suspicious circumstances.

Pathologist Dr Walid Salman, who conducted a post-mortem examination, gave the cause of death as ischemic miocardial fibrosis due to coronary atheroscolosis.

East Lancashire Coroner Mr Richard Taylor recorded a conclusion of natural causes.
