Calendar plan in tragic soldier Jordan’s memory

FAMILY and friends of L/Cpl Jordan Bancroft are making a special calendar to raise money for the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.

Earby soldier L/Cpl Bancroft served in the 1st Battalion of the regiment. He was killed in Afghanistan in August.

His loved ones have organised various events in support of Help for Heroes and now they are keen to directly support the regiment in helping its own soldiers and their families.

L/Cpl Bancroft’s aunt Mandy Paul came up with the idea to produce a calendar and is one of the 13 models signed up to pose in it at the Queen’s Lancashire Reigment museum at Fulwood Barracks in Preston.

Others taking part include L/Cpl Bancroft’s brothers Paul and Leighton, three of his cousins and fellow 1st Battalion soldier, Jordan Preston.

Mandy said: “It’s going to be a military style calendar with some of the memorabilia from the museum but just really fun and quirky. It’s in memory of Jordan’s life after all.

“It will make a great Christmas present and directly help our soldiers.”

The charity works to support serving or former members of the regiment and their families should they be injured, or find themselves in financial hardship, sickness or old age.
