Her parents Mel and Tim Fourie from Rossendale asked if they could gift a sum of money that had been donated after her funeral, which was the beginning of the fund.

The charity has now organised its second butterfly ball on Saturday, April 23rd at Burnley Football Club.

Eve Taylor, chairman of the charity and a manager at Holly Grove, said: “The fund-raising has gone from strength to strength over the last few years and we now have a board with 10 trustees and myself and Mel Fourie as joint chairmen.

“After lots of hard work we finally became a registered charity on December 15th last year.

“We are desperately looking for prizes from any local companies. There is a three course meal, raffle, huge sports memorabilia auction, live entertainment and plenty of glitz, sparkle and glamour.

“We are hoping that Ted Robbins and Robson Green will also be attending.”

Tickets are selling fast and are available for £450 per table of 10 including food, entertainment, welcome drinks and complimentary wine on the table.

Tickets are also available at £45 per person and can booked by contacting the school on 01282 682278
