A butterfly ball in memory of a special little girl sent the hearts of her family fluttering with pride.

The evening at Turf Moor raised £8,262 towards the Georgia Fourie Butterfly Fund, which will be used to support the pupils of Holly Grove School.

Inspirational Georgia, who attended Holly Grove in Burnley, died at the Royal Blackburn Hospital after being struck down with pneumonia in 2009.

Her parents Mel and Tim Fourie from Water set up the fund to support pupils at Georgia’s former school.

The latest ball featured television star Ted Robbins compere the event with fellow Rossendale entertainers The Lomax Brothers providing the music.

Organiser Katie Wood said: “More than 160 people attended. We want to thank everyone for their continued support. The money will be spent on playground equipment, residential trips to give parents a well deserved break and sensory equipment.”

The next fund-raiser is on Friday October 27th at Byerden House from 7pm with supper, raffle, auction, tombola, bingo and quizzes. Tickets can be bought on the door.
