Stars from the world of football and music helped schoolchildren to light up Burnley when they switched on the town’s Christmas lights.
Clarets midfielder Joey Barton was joined by X Factor stars Tom Bleasby, Misha B and Jake Quickenden for the annual festive event.
Crowds of families thronged St James’s Street for the fun which culminated in a spectacular rooftop fireworks display.
The crowds were first entertained by a stilt-walking Ice Prince and Princess, and Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants before the big musical stage show.
Local performers included dance group Fierce, winners of Burnley’s Got Talent 2015, and theboykev – multi-instrumentalist songwriter Kevin Parry – who was accompanied by the Burnley Markets Christmas Choir and schools who helped to record a Christmas CD in aid of Pendleside Hospice.
Amber Corns, Burnley brand manager for Burnley Borough Council, said: “It was a brilliant day and evening.
“I would like to thank all the performers who gave their time on the night including our very talented local schoolchildren and of course our well-known performers.”
