Should the Government step in to stop the loss of 3,000 jobs at BAE?

THE nation has been rocked this week by the news that BAE is to shed 3,000 jobs nationwide due to a fall in orders for fighter jets.

Locally, some 550-plus jobs at Samlesbury, which employs people from all across East Lancashire, are set to go.

Should the Government step in to help the struggling firm and protect workers’ jobs or is this just a fact of life given the current economic climate.
