A NEW store is opening in Burnley creating 35 new jobs.

The 140th branch of 99p Stores will open in the former Woolworths in the town centre next Thursday, March 31st.

To celebrate, the retailer is seeking a local person to officially open the store and perform a 99-second trolley dash.

The person selected will be the “most deserving” person in Burnley, as judged by 99p Stores bosses.

Positions being offered at the store range from customer assistants to stock replenishment staff. Boss Hussein Lalani said: “We have conducted extensive research and discovered Burnley people love a bargain as much as anywhere in the United Kingdom.”

The new Burnley branch is the 68th former Woolworths store re-opened and re-branded by 99p Stores in the United Kingdom in the last two and a half years.

To apply for “the most deserving person in Burnley” write 25 words to by midnight on March 28th. The winner must be able to be at the store by 9-15 a.m. on the day of the opening. All entries must include a contact telephone number.
