the Nelson branch of Lloyds Bank in Manchester Road is to be sold.
The branch is one of 280 in England and Wales to be sold as a result of the Government and EC asking Lloyds to sell a proportion of its business as a consequence of it accepting state aid.
The branches to be sold will form part of a new bank, the seventh largest in the UK.
A Lloyds spokesman said: “While we are making this announcement now, the process of establishing and launching the new bank coiuld take up to two years.
“In the meantime, customers wil see no change to their branch, products or seervices until 2013 when the sale is likely to be finalised.
