Burnley’s Crow Wood Leisure is going hi-tech with £500,000 worth of new equipment.

The award-winning Burnley business is replacing every piece of cardio vascular equipment with the very latest from Technogym, which will allow members to monitor their training results anywhere in the world with internet access.

Each machine will have its own monitor screen, allowing gym users to watch television, dock mobile phones and listen to music.

Andrew Brown, managing director of Crow Wood Leisure, said: “It’s incredible to think that our members will be able to work out whilst surfing the internet, sending and receiving emails, doing shopping, and staying in touch with friends and relatives on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.

“If you use ‘map my run’, you can even include your gym session in your training stats. In the next few weeks we will also be offering ‘Swimtag’ to our members, by borrowing a free of charge wristband from reception, sensors in the pool hall will measure your swim, giving you full analysis of speed, distance, fastest length etc, then you can add it to your cloud based records.”
