Calico is to build 52 affordable new homes across Burnley by 2018, in partnership with Burnley Council.

As part of a national drive to tackle the housing crisis, Calico has received £1.4m. from the Homes and Communities Agency towards the proposals.

The HCA funding is provided by the Government as part of its Affordable Homes Programme, which aims to deliver 165,000 affordable new homes in England by March 2018.

Working with Burnley Council, as part of these proposals, Calico is identifying potential areas to build. In total, Calico’s business plan includes the building of 477 new homes by March 2019.

Anthony Duerden, Calico’s chief executive, said: “These plans are at an early stage and are part of our continued efforts to invest in Burnley. Our aim is to respond to local housing need and to develop properties in areas where people want to live.”
