Burnley Royal Mail postal workers have staged a strike .

Staff at the Burnley delivery office in Bank Parade staged the unofficial walk-out earlier today.

Claims are the industrial action came after a number of staff at the office were suspended.

Today’s action comes just days after Royal Mail workers staged a walk-out on Friday.

The Royal Mail would not comment on the reason behind the strikes or if further industrial action was imminent.

But Royal Mail spokesman Mike Norman said: “Royal Mail would like to apologise to customers in the BB10/11/12 postcode areas affected by the unofficial strike taken this morning by colleagues at Burnley Delivery Office.

“Royal Mail is fully committed to the process of trying to resolve concerns of postal workers in Burnley by continuing to follow the national jointly agreed framework with the Communication Workers Union (CWU).

We remain hopeful that the issues can be resolved locally.”
