A THRIVING Burnley brewery has won top industry praise for its new multi-million pound cask ale brewing complex.
Moorhouse’s Brewery was presented with the Distributor Charter Award by brewing watchdog Cask Marque just months after opening its new £4.2m. facility.
The Accrington Road-based firm has become one of the only brewers in the country to achieve the status for the quality of its distribution and delivery operation.
The award is prestigious approval that beer delivered by Moorhouse’s is in excellent condition.
David Grant, managing director, said it was a tribute to the whole brewing and distribution team at the company.
He said: “The new brewery has got off to a great start with sales growing month-on-month. This award from Cask Marque shows that we are performing to an industry respected benchmark of excellence. It is a terrific accolade for the whole of the team, recognising their hard work and dedication to making our investment succeed.
“We are determined that our world-class cask ales will win new markets nationally and this testimony to their quality will play a big part in achieving our ambitious aims.”
The new brewery has trebled production capacity to more than 1,000 brewer’s barrels a week or 15 million pints-a-year of Pendle Witch cask-conditioned ales.
Annabel Smith, Cask Marque national account manager said: “Congratulations to Moorhouse’s on achieving our award.
“This is a rigorous assessment of standards and service levels, which clearly demonstrates the company’s continued commitment to quality. The first assessment was carried out at a particular tough time during the hot weather in summer – a time when you might expect standards, in particular temperature control, to slip. However, with a score averaging more than 90% they proved that they are more than fit for the challenge.”
