The finalists of this year’s Burnley’s Got Talent competition will also be taking part.

The switch on marks the start of Christmas shopping in Burnley, with many shops staying open till 8pm or later every Thursday in the run up to Christmas.

Coun. Andy Tatchell, Burnley Council’s Executive member for regeneration and economic development, said: “At this time of year, nothing highlights more the importance of town centre as a key focal point for the community than switching on the Christmas lights. What better way could there be to celebrate this than showcasing the wealth of home-grown talent.

“We want this year’s lights switch-on to be really special and with the range of entertainment planned for the day, it should be a great way to mark the start of the Christmas celebrations.”

“With late night shopping starting on Thursday, November 22nd, and Sunday opening for many shops, retailers are working hard to make Burnley’s shopping experience more convenient for the community in the run up to Christmas.

“Support for our local businesses at this time of the year is really important. Burnley has a great choice of shops so make sure you give them a visit.”
