A BURNLEY woman has hit out at a pound store chain for selling pens which look like a syringe full of blood.
Miss Christine Butterworth, who lives in Healey Wood, said she was “disgusted” by the product on sale in Poundland, in Market Square, and complained to staff.
“I was looking around at all the Hallowe’en costumes and decorations,” she said.
“But this is in bad taste.
“If children see a real syringe, having seen these, they could mistake it for a toy. By selling these, they are saying it’s OK to play with syringes.
“There are already enough problems with drugs and syringes being left on the streets, and this isn’t helping.
“It has really upset me.”
