Bus station attack led to earlobe being bitten off - witness appeal

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Rawtenstall.

The incident happened on Sunday, July 10th, around 2-45 a.m. in Bacup Road at the bus shelter in Rawtenstall Bus Station.

Two men, who had earlier been drinking in the Queens Arm pub, had a heated disagreement resulting in a fight. During the scuffle, one of the men had his ear lobe bitten, causing it to be severed. He needed stitches at hospital to reattach the lobe to the ear.

Det. Con. Harvinder Uppal said: “An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances around this incident.

“First of all I would appeal to anyone who was walking down Bacup Road and witnessed the incident at the bus shelter. Secondly, I am keen to hear from any taxi drivers who were perhaps in the area or passing by.”

She added, “We need to establish exactly what happened and if anyone has any information then I would ask them to call the police.”
