They met as bus drivers for Transdev in Burnley and, to prove Ian is still just the ticket 13 years on, she nominated him for a Valentine’s competition.

To Ian’s delight, his prize was more a case of 50 shades of gravy than 50 Shades of Grey. Clayton Park Bakery presented him with a hamper packed with savouries and cupcakes.

Said Ian: “I wasn’t expecting it at all as I knew nothing about being nominated. It was a surprise as I don’t usually win anything. We really enjoyed the hamper, particularly the potato pies and cream cakes!”

Bakery general manager Brian Ashworth said: “We were struck by the fact Ian and Deborah found love on the buses. It goes to show relationships can blossom in the most unlikely places.”
