Burnley’s Mia makes history as 1,000th baby born in Lancashire Women and Newborn Centre

ONE of Burnley’s newest arrivals came into the world quite unaware that she has made a little bit of history!

Mia Isobel Green is the 1,000th baby to be born at the £32m. Lancashire Women and Newborn Centre, which has just celebrated its first birthday.

Mia arrived last Thursday, January 12th, just after 4-30 p.m. weighing in at a healthy 8lbs 10oz.

Jeff and Georgina Green didn’t realise the spotlight would be on them until they arrived at the hospital.

Georgina (31), an office worker in Simonstone, said: “We arrived at the hospital at 2-30 p.m. and my midwife was due to finish her shift.

“But she said she wanted to hang on until my baby was born, as she would be the 1,000th one.

“I was only in labour for two hours, and everything went really smoothly with Mia making a bit of a diva-style entrance!’’

Staff presented the family with a bouquet to mark the occasion, and the Greens are now settling into life with their baby back at the family home in Chestnut Rise.

And they will be making sure they tell Mia as she grows up all about how she made her name in local Burnley history.
