Burnley ‘Total Warrior’ raises cash for Pendleside Hospice

A BRAVE Burnley man took on one of the toughest fitness challenges in Britain to raise money for Pendleside Hospice.

Anthony McLoughlin, of Carter Street, did the Total Warrior 10k event across the unforgiving terrain of the Lake District, which tests even the fittest of the fit.

Not only do participants have to run 10k, but they also have to overcome 19 hardcore obstacles, ranging from trudging through muddy swamps to running through four-foot flames in the “Human Barbecue”.

Anthony completed the course in 55 minutes and 59 seconds, and ranked ninth out of 1559 participants.

He also raised £355 in aid of Pendleside Hospice.

Anthony said: “It was one of the toughest challenges I have ever done, however, but it hasn’t put me off, and I will hopefully be taking part in next year’s Total Warrior.”

Hospice fund-raiser Lisa Riding said: “We would like to say a big thank you to Anthony for putting himself through such an extreme challenge in aid of Pendleside.

“His support is very much appreciated. The funds raised will help the hospice to continue their care for local people with cancer, and other life-limiting illnesses.”
