Schools in Burnley beat the snow today with only one closing as the weather turned nasty again.

St John's in Read was the only school to close its doors after heavy snow fell again this morning.

Dozens of schools in the Ribble Valley remained closed, including every high school, and several schools in Rossendale and Blackburn also kept their doors closed as the snow continued to fall.

Last week dozens of schools in Burnley were closed for half the week after heavy snow and hazardous conditions brought in by the "Beast from the East."

Weather forecasters have predicted the snow will develop into rain later and most roads will be clear.
