The nation was gripped as the nail-biting match saw the England team win 4-3 on penalties after it ended 1-1.

It was the first time England had won a penalty shoot out in the World Cup so there were huge celebrations up and down the country.

And these children from St Augustine's RC Primary School in Burnley were thrilled to bits with their team.

The win means England will now play Sweden in the quarter finals on Saturday and the entire nation is expected to be glued to their screens to cheer them on to victory and a place in the semi-finals.
