Headteacher Mr David Burton said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award in the same week we have been showing future students around the school. They know they must put us first choice on their application as our success means we have been oversubscribed for the last four years.

“Let’s hope the fact that a former student got into Oxford University and all of our other academic, sporting and artistic successes mean we can bring the award back to East Lancashire.”

The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony at Liverpool Cathedral on November 20th.
