The Princess Royal raised £672.15 for the Georgia Fourie Butterfly Fund and will round that figure up to £700 before presenting a cheque to Holly Grove School in Burnley.

Georgia, who attended Holly Grove, died at the Royal Blackburn Hospital after being struck down with pneumonia in 2009.

The fund was set up by her parents to support pupils at her former school.

'Gamblers' enjoyed blackjack, roulette, karaoke and a tombola with winning casino chips used to bid in an auction at the end of the night.

Prizes included signed Burnley shirts, two tickets to Chester races, a VIP package for four at Gala Bingo and a full house package at Manchester Grosvenor Casino.

Landlady Justine Lorriman said: "It was a great night. I would just like to say thank you to the Grosvenor Casino, Manchester 235 Casino, The Corkhouse Burnley, Chester Races, Moorhouses, MFA Bowling, Pub Pool (711) and all the staff and parents at Holly Grove School for donating prizes for the evening.

"Also, Dave Craig and his team who organise the casino tables."
