Burnley £40m. new shopping centre a step nearer

BURNLEY’S highly-anticipated £40m. shopping and restaurant complex looks set to move a step closer amid objections from businesses and conservation groups.

Plans have been submitted to Burnley Council for the development, in Curzon Street, which was formerly known as the Oval, by Manchester-based developers Henry Boot.

Curzon Street traders and Burnley Civic Trust are among those opposed to plans for the complex which will see Next and Primark occupy the flagship units.

Councillors sitting on the council’s Development Control Committee will discuss the plans at a meeting on Thursday .

Town planners have recommended the development be approved.
