Burnley primary school lifts coveted sports trophy

Wellfield Primary School has won the Burnley Schools Sports Partnership Award 2017.

The school came out with the most points in a series of games in different sports including football, athletics, rounders and tag rugby.

Extra points were awarded for good sportsmanship, team spirit and also showing politeness.

Primary schools across Burnley competed and when the points were added up Wellfield had scored the most.

Sports co-ordinator Mr Andrew Peyton said: "The children have done really well, we are very proud of them."
