Postman Andy Brown said: “About 18 of us are doing the sponsored walk in aid of the Stroke Association, which is our charity of the year.

“Just recently, one of our colleges suffered a stroke. His determination has spurred us on to attempt this walk.

“Apart from raising money, we hope to also raise the dangers of high blood pressure and encourage more people to check themselves to avoid ill health in the future.”

Nationally, Royal Mail has so far raised £548,000, including matched giving, in this year’s Operations Fund-raising Challenge – which has a target of £2m.

Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK changing the world for people affected by stroke. In the last 20 years the number of people dying of stroke has halved.
