Burnley park prepares to step back to the 1930s

Members of the public are invited to talk a walk down Memory Lane when Burnley College host a 1930s catwalk event at Thompson Park on Friday.

The “Our Park, Our Town, Our Time” project is in partnership with Burnley Leisure Trust.

Amanda Ashworth, fashion lecturer at the college, said: “The aim of the project was to engage young people in exploring the history of Thompson Park and will feed into the consultation process of the major refurbishment.

“It is being funded by The Heritage Lottery Fund and we are holding a catwalk event in the park on Friday to display our work.

“The catwalk staging, styling, garments and advertisements have all been made and organised by Burnley College BTEC art and fashion students who will be present at the event.”

The event, which will also see vintage fashion, cakes and games, starts at 1pm in the park.
