Burnley paramedic faces Internet sex charges against boy (14)

Edward Trickett (30) is accused of attacking the 14-year-old in woodland in Suffolk between May and June last year after meeting him on the net.

Trickett, who worked in Burnley’s Dent Row ambulance station at the time of the offences, was suspended by ambulance chiefs in February pending the outcome of the court case.

The defendant, who was later transferred to a base in Greater Manchester, is charged with child grooming alleged to have taken place between May 1st and June 10th, 2010.

He is accused of two counts of engaging in sexual activity with the teen on June 5th and June 10th last year.

He faces a further two charges that he engaged in non-penetrative sexual activity with the schoolboy.

Trickett appeared before North-East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Lowerstoft where the case was committed to Crown Court in Ipswich.

A plea and case management hearing is set to take place there on October 7th.

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said: “Edward Trickett is employed as a paramedic at North West Ambulance Service.

“He was suspended in February pending the outcome of his court case.”
