The woman, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the children, admitted two counts of cruelty to a child after letting the children stay with the offender on seven or eight occasions.

Burnley Crown Court heard this was despite knowing the man had a sexual offences prevention order.

Mr Martin Hackett (prosecuting) told the crown court the children had stayed with the offender for entire weekends and shared a bed on these occasions.

Mr Paul Hodgkinson (defending) said the mother had “realised the error of her ways”.
Mr Hodgkinson said she had been “susceptible to pressure” and regretted her decisions deeply.

Passing sentence, Judge Beverly Lunt told the mother she had put her own wishes and desires above the welfare of her children.

Judge Lunt said: “This was a sexual predator and you knew it.”

Judge Lunt handed the woman an eight-month prison sentence, which was suspended for two years, and she was also given a 12-month supervision order.
