Burnley local election 2012 candidates announced

CANDIDATES standing in this year’s Burnley Borough Council local elections have been announced today.

One seat will be contested in each of the 15 local wards across Burnley and Padiham at the elections on Thursday, May 3rd.

Labour and the Liberal Democrats have both put forward a strong contingent with one candidate standing in each of the 15 wards.

The British National Party has put forward six, the Conservative Party four and the UK Independence Party will field three.

Bank Hall Ward: Julie Cooper (Labour); Trevor Kirkham (Liberal).

Briercliffe: Brian Cooper (Labour); Margaret Lishman (Liberal); Susan Nutter (Conservative).

Brunshaw: Lian Pate (Labour); Linda White (Liberal).

Cliviger with Worsthorne: Tom Commis (UKIP); Andrew Newhouse (Conservative); Paula Riley (Liberal); Brian Tomlinson (Labour)

Coalclough with Deerplay: Charles Bullas (Liberal); Samuel McLachlan (Labour).

Daneshouse with Stoneyholme: Saeed Akhtar Chaudhary (Labour); Mohammed Abdul Malik (Liberal).

Gannow: Justin Birtwistle (Liberal); Derek Dawson (BNP); Betsy Stringer (Labour).

Gawthorpe: David Carter (Liberal); John Cave (BNP); Andy Tatchell (Labour).

Hapton with Park Ward: Jonathan Barker (Labour); Stuart Leyland (Liberal); Sharon Wilkinson (BNP).

Lanehead Ward: Bill Brindle (Liberal); Stephen Large (Labour); Michael McHugh (UKIP); Phillip Nutter (Conservative).

Queensgate Ward: Martyn Hurt (Liberal); Arif Khan (Labour).

Rosegrove with Lowerhouse: Lynne Briggs (Liberal); Marcus Johnstone (Labour & Cooperative); Paul McDevitt (BNP).

Rosehill with Burnley Wood: Paul Campbell (Labour & Cooperative); Karen Heseltine (Liberal); Craig Ramplee (UKIP).

Trinity: Stephanie Forrest (Liberal); Tony Lambert (Labour); John Rowe (BNP).

Whittlefield with Ightenhill: Kathryn Haworth (Liberal); Mathew Isherwood (Conservative) Janice Swainston (Labour); Christopher Vanns (BNP).
