A MOTORIST who lost control of her car on an icy Burnley street had to be rescued by firefighters.
The woman had been driving along Crossley Fold when she fell foul of wintry conditions early on Friday morning.
The driver was trying to turn her car around but the vehicle began skidding towards a property before she became stuck on the ice.
Fire crews were called to the scene at 2-30am after a call was made saying the incident was a road traffic collision.
But when firefighters arrived at the scene they found the car had not crashed but had become stuck.
A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “It is not really our job to get people out of this kind of situation. But the lady was on her own and she had got stuck on the ice.
“She had been trying to turn around but it was very icy on the road and she started slipping towards a property. She didn’t dare get out.
“We gave her a bit of coaching to drive on ice by not over-revving the vehicle.”
Fire crews put grit down on the road and helped move the vehicle.
